It's cocktail hour with new friends!!! We also wander around during the day, looking for good and or unusual places to eat. This is the Junkyard Dog hotdog place down the street.
We are packing up and heading a little further north today, may or may not have internet. I think our next stop will be Florence, Or. The following day, Thursday, we will be at Camp Champoeg, go ahead, try to pronounce that. It's actually said, Shampoo eee
Well, we decided to go north using US101, it's has more mountains than I remember. After Santa Rosa there was practically no traffic though. We made it to Somoa in time for dinner, first time I've had dinner at Somoa Cookhouse, it was great.
We boondocked with a couple of other motorhomers and headed for Gold Beach this morning. We checked the RV park we stayed at a few years ago, their prices have went through the roof, $43.00 a night, we ain't staying there. Found a Enjoy America campground in Gold Beach for half that so we'll spend two nights here.
This lighthouse is in an RV park downtown, probably a place Marti would like to stay, LOL
It's time to bid a fond farewell to Turtle Beach and head north. The next few days will be travel days and as of yet we have no idea if we are going up I-5 or US101, we'll just let a last second decision grab us as we get to Lodi and hiway 12. We have no reservations until the family reunion campground so our options are open. Next post, Oregon!
Coming home down the levee on Sunday I came across this boat tied up on a concrete stairway. This is not the way to moor your boat. I wonder what the whole story was.
May go out later today for a cruise, may not...lazy weekend!

Dang it PJ, wish I had known you were just kickn it, I would have drug you along with Ron and myself, as the cuz met Chelle and myself at the Hollywood Cafe in Lodi (beginning to be a regular meeting place). where we had a scrumptious breakfast, then we headed out Hwy 12 to Jackson then into P-ville
and beyond to Coloma. The Cuz might be moving his camper there in about 9 weeks, and he wanted to be sure the spaces would be large enough to accommodate his trailer.
Afterwards we took a ride up near the Peninsula campground at the end of Rattlesnake Bar Rd. We just wanted to check out my brothers old farm.
Then a quick stop at the Purple Place for a shot of ice tea to try and wash down some of tht California forest in our lungs.
From there we headed through Folsom across Scott Rd. for a cheap thrill, then out past Sloughhouse for a wiff of their fresh corn. Then I dropped off the Granddaughter, Ron headed back to his campsite and here I am.
Every region we visit seems to be known for something. San Francisco as a tourist area, Napa for wine, San Diego for it's weather and military presence. In Lawton, Ok I think they are and always will be known for their buffets. Even though the locals may want to be known for Ft. Sill or perhaps the Wichita Mountains, it won't happen, buffets will be it for them. They have Korean buffets, Chinese buffets, Japenese buffets, Bar-B-Que buffets, basic American food buffets, and I bet one of these days they will get a soup and salad buffet. Not really a buffet type of food but they also have lots of "all you can eat catfish" joints. Diets don't stand a chance here.
